ECDL Courses
The European Computer Driving License (ECDL) is a globally recognized computer literacy certification program. Available in over 140 countries, a person with an ECDL certification will benefit from this globally recognized demonstration of Information and Communication technology literacy. If you are a novice computer user and wish to improve your knowledge and abilities with a variety of basic computer functions, then pursuing an ECDL will be incredibly useful.
The ECDL (which is also referred to as an International Computer Driving License (ICDL)) certification program was initiated and is supported by the non-profit ECDL Foundation. The basic certification program provides training in the following seven computer literacy areas: Concepts of Information Technology; Using the Computer and Managing Files; Word Processing; Spreadsheets; Database; Presentation; Information & Communication. Each learning module includes a skills test, which must be passed in order to earn competency certification.
For those with an interest or need in pursuing additional ECDL qualifications, there are advanced courses in Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, and Presentations. Because of the international recognition of the ECDL, earning yours will help increase your job search potential, as well as potentially help in your advancement with certain employers.
ECDL courses are offered online and on location at many approved testing centers. Depending on your level of computer literacy, you may find it easier to have access to instructors who will help guide you through course materials and who are available to respond to questions you may have. For those learners who feel confident that they have a higher competency level, an at home or online course may be your preferred ECDL course option.
